Avril Salter, Ph.D., is a knowledgeable, insightful and enthusiastic program manager by day, at Microsoft Corp. in Redmond, Wash., and an expert in wireless communications by night. That's when she develops curricula for seminars and workshops on everything mobile and wireless, which she presents through Salter & Associates a technical training firm she founded in California in 2008.
Dr. Salter is continually called upon by companies such as Alcatel Lucent, AT&T Wireless, Cisco, Intel, Motorola, Nortel, Qualcomm, Sprint Nextel and Verizon Wireless, to present workshops and customized wireless training programs to their employees. She also has managed complex market development projects totaling several hundred millions of dollars, across the technology value chain of silicon providers, equipment manufacturers, applilcation developers and service providers.
Salter is familiar with all aspects of product planning including asessments of financial viability, service and usage modeling. And she has proven expertise with internal and external collaborative programs and initiatives, plus a history of creating strong customer relationships, and both depth and breadth of all things related to computers and communication technologies.
Prior to her work with Microsoft, she was employed in various senior positions in the U.S., China, Australia and the U.K. with Helix Sofware, Motorola U.K., Motorola USA, BCN Data, and Intel Corp. Salter is an experienced facilitator, published writer, technical trainer and public speaker and has an uncanny ability to explain complex concepts to all levels of personnel within an organization.
She holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Royal Holloway College, London University; a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Reading, and has participated in the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University.
